Video: I Just Showed on a Map How to Liberate and Secure the Area, Says Samvel Babayan
“This defeat has been coming for a long time. I wrote a letter that Azerbaijan is arming itself, building factories, purchasing new weapons, and creating an army... we should have stopped, sat down, and discussed what path we are choosing. We did not do that,” said Samvel Babayan, the former Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh and leader of the United Homeland party, during a meeting with representatives of the political and public sectors of the Republic of Artsakh, speaking about the situation surrounding the two Armenian republics.
Referring to his role during the 44-day war, he stated: “I just showed on a map how to liberate and secure the area. The misunderstanding that Babayan decided or said something is incorrect; you don't say anything, because you are an advisor, appointed by the president to go to those deep bunkers where your headquarters has been... you advise, then report the situation to the president on what is happening. That's it. All your functions end after that,” Babayan elaborated.
When asked if he had tried to discuss the proposed strategy with the former leaders of Artsakh, Samvel Babayan replied, “They have nothing to say.”
