Meeting Between Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Underway: Key Negotiation Priority Revealed
A meeting has begun in Moscow between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov mentioned in his opening remarks that there is an ongoing intense political dialogue between the countries at all levels, including between the leaders of the two nations.
“A new direction in our cooperation will be Iran's accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full member. The corresponding decision was made at the recent summit in Dushanbe. The main priority of today’s negotiations will be the complete restoration of the Iranian nuclear deal without any additions or modifications,” Lavrov stated.
According to Lavrov, other topics to be discussed include cooperation in Syria and other regions of the Middle East, Northern Africa, and the Persian Gulf.
