Georgia Counts 100 Percent of Ballots: What the Picture Looks Like
The Central Electoral Commission of Georgia has counted 100 percent of the ballots in the municipal elections held in Tbilisi. According to News-Georgia, candidates must surpass a 2.5 percent threshold to enter the Tbilisi Sakrebulo (city council).
Based on the voting results, six parties will be represented in the Sakrebulo. The ratings of the political forces are as follows:
- “Georgian Dream” - 40.3%
- “United National Movement” - 27.97%
- Giorgi Gakharia's “For Georgia” - 8.85%
- “Lelo” - 3.63%
- “Girchi - More Freedom” - 3.3%
- Anna Dolidze's “For the People” - 2.57%
Regarding the nationwide elections, 99.92 percent of the ballots have been counted thus far, resulting in the ruling party, “Georgian Dream,” receiving 46.65% of the votes, the opposition “United National Movement” 30.7%, “For Georgia” 7.79%, “Lelo” 2.71%, “European Georgia” 1.66%, “Alliance of Patriots of Georgia” 1.46%, “Labor Party” 1.38%, and “Girchi” 1.44%.
It is important to note that in the mayoral elections, candidates must surpass a 50 percent threshold. The country's CEC had previously announced that a second round of voting is planned to be held in at least 20 cities.
