Turkey Positive About Normalizing Relations with Armenia: Statement from Ankara
Turkey is positive about normalizing relations with Armenia, declared President Erdoğan's spokesperson İbrahim Kalın.
The Turkish senior official noted that the main issue that had led Ankara to freeze diplomatic relations with Yerevan and close the border was the "occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh."
"Now, when that issue is resolved, there is essentially no obstacle to normalizing relations with Armenia; at the same time, there are some issues related to Nagorno-Karabakh that still need to be resolved," he said.
Among the unresolved issues, Erdoğan's spokesperson highlighted the absence of a peace agreement. "This is necessary for Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. If a peace agreement is signed, it will have a very serious impact on regional stability," İbrahim Kalın concluded.
