The World is Very Close to the Danger of Nuclear Destruction, Says UN Secretary-General
September 26 is observed as the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. Humanity is very close to the threshold of the danger of nuclear destruction. This was stated in a tweet on Saturday by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
“Around 14,000 nuclear warheads are maintained worldwide. Humanity is still unacceptably close to the danger of nuclear destruction,” said Guterres. “It is time to clear the clouds of nuclear conflict, eliminate nuclear weapons, and open a new era of trust and peace.”
