Aliyev on the Status of Nagorno-Karabakh
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in an interview with a Russian national defense magazine, deemed the raising of the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh's status by Armenia as unfeasible. “Unfortunately, to this day, the question of the status of Karabakh is being raised, which is unfeasible,” Aliyev stated, labeling the matter as “harmful and dangerous for Armenia.” He added that if Armenia continues to make territorial claims against Azerbaijan, it will be difficult for them to refrain from making mutual territorial claims against Armenia.
Aliyev also remarked that they have more grounds to make territorial claims regarding “the historical belonging of Zangezur and Lake Goycha” (Aliyev’s phrasing).
