Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan Invited to Independence Day Event
According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, former presidents of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan were invited to events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Armenia's independence, similar to the invitation sent to the first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan. This information was confirmed to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper by sources in the government.
However, it is known that all three presidents declined to participate in the event, rejecting the invitation from Nikol Pashinyan.
Yesterday, throughout the day, the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper attempted to contact the offices of the second and third presidents to clarify whether they had received an invitation and why they were not attending the event. However, they were unable to establish contact. Sources from the government assured that all three leaders had indeed received invitations.
It is worth mentioning that invitations were also sent to opposition factions in the National Assembly. Both "We Have Honor" and the "Armenia" faction led by second president Robert Kocharyan did not attend the event.
