Goris-Kapan Traffic Has Decreased: Syunik Governor
The circumstances surrounding the two residents of the Kasakh community who went missing in the Goriss-Kapan road segment of the Vorotan area on September 18 and were returned the next day through the mediation of Russian border guards remain unclear. In an interview with Lurer.com, Syunik Governor Melikset Poghosyan stated that he has not met with the residents and is unaware of the results of the investigation. “I haven’t seen those people; I don’t know what the result of the service investigation is. The National Security Service could provide clearer information,” he said.
Responding to opinions that it was impossible to deviate from the Goriss-Vorotan section of the interstate road, the governor noted that the residents likely got confused. “There is a road that goes toward Kubatlu through the Lalazary Bridge; as far as I know, they took that road and ended up near the Turks, who took them away. They were returned yesterday at 10 AM. I don’t know whether they deviated or under what circumstances they went that way, but they probably got confused about the road,” Poghosyan added.
According to him, due to the behavior of the Azerbaijanis, traffic on the Goris-Kapan route has significantly decreased. “Of course, traffic between Goris and Kapan has decreased; what kind of attitude have we shown our children, how could it not drop? Just days ago, a bus transporting children from Artsakh was stopped, and now this,” he noted.
