US Admits Error: Pentagon
The US Department of Defense has admitted that the drone strike in Kabul on August 29 was a mistake. The strike resulted in the deaths of 10 civilians, including up to 7 children.
The Pentagon also stated that it is unlikely that individuals associated with the Islamic State Khorasan group were eliminated.
“Our investigation revealed that the strike was a tragic mistake,” said the head of US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The Pentagon is considering compensation payments to the families of the victims of the strike in Kabul.
“I will conclude my opening remarks with sincere and profound condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic strike. We are exploring the possibility of compensation payments,” McKenzie stated.
