Newborn Found in Gyumri Handed Over to a Family
A newborn baby found in the Avtokayan district of Gyumri on July 3 has not been reunited with their mother and has been placed in foster care. This information was reported by a Sputnik Armenia correspondent from Gyumri.
According to the report, two families have applied to the Gyumri City Hall’s guardianship and trusteeship committee regarding the baby. A multidisciplinary committee discussed the case and approved one of the families.
The committee's chairman, Edward Baghramyan, noted that the baby has been handed over to the family member who has experience working with children and is in their environment every day. “The baby is in safe hands and is healthy. The foster care is not temporary; there is no such concept. Foster care is granted indefinitely, and the committee keeps the family under supervision until the ongoing criminal case is resolved. Until then, the adoption issue cannot be considered,” he said.
