Criminal Case Initiated for Voter Removing Ballot
In the city of Abovyan, an incident was recorded where a voter attempted to remove a ballot from polling station No. 29/20, which was prevented by law enforcement officers. This was reported by Gor Abrahamyan, the advisor to the Prosecutor General.
A criminal case has been initiated based on the elements of Part 1 of Article 154 of the RA Criminal Code, and necessary actions are being carried out. Within the framework of these actions, all circumstances will be clarified, including the possible involvement of other individuals in the criminal act and schemes.
This article of the Criminal Code pertains to the violation of voting secrecy, specifically compelling a voter to reveal the voting result, or verifying a ballot to disclose the voting outcome.
While maintaining the presumption of innocence, I again urge the involved subjects in the elections to refrain from attempting to influence the free expression of voters, guiding them, controlling their votes in any manner, or using any schemes for this purpose. Discovered incidents will not remain without consequences, and there will be no escape from responsibility.
I appeal to voters not to succumb to coercive measures and to report any such attempts to law enforcement agencies.
