Hot Air Wave Will Retreat Starting Soon; Temperature Will Decrease

As predicted, on May 21 and 22, the entire territory of the republic experienced extremely high thermal conditions due to the influx of tropical hot air currents from the Arabian deserts. A record high temperature was recorded on May 21, when the temperature in the Ararat Valley and Yerevan climbed to +36...+36.3 degrees Celsius, surpassing the historical record of +35.3 degrees set in 1999 by one degree. This was reported by the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center.

On May 22, a significant concentration of dusty air currents from those desert regions was observed, resulting in the sky being covered by a cloud of dust, particularly in the Ararat Valley and Yerevan, leading to a sharp decrease in horizontal visibility, especially after noon.

Starting in the coming hours, this hot air wave will retreat southward, giving way to a cyclone moving in from the Black Sea. The influence of the cyclone will continue until May 27, resulting in short-lived thunderstorm-related rains in most regions of the republic, particularly at night and in the evening, with hail expected in certain areas.

The air temperature will decrease by 5-7 degrees across the entire territory of the republic from May 23 to 25.
