4-Year-Old Child Refuses to Comply with Doctor, Who Slaps Him Causing Facial Injury

The investigative committee of Armenia has completed the preliminary investigation into a criminal case regarding the intentional slight injury to a four-year-old boy by a doctor.

According to the obtained evidence, the 4-year-old child, who had congenital heart problems, was taken by his parents to the pediatric cardiology clinic at "Norq Marash" Medical Center for examination by a pediatric cardiologist on March 17, 2021. On that day, the child was restless and did not comply with the doctor or his mother.

In an attempt to calm and reassure the child, the doctor intentionally slapped him, causing minor injury through temporary health deterioration manifesting as soft tissue injuries on the right side of the face, abrasions, and a closed head injury.

Based on sufficient evidence, the doctor has been charged with intentionally causing slight injury to the child. The preventive measure chosen for him was a signature bond not to leave.

The preliminary investigation has concluded, and the criminal case, with an accusatory conclusion, has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the investigation for approval and to be forwarded to the court.
