At Least Now Be Ashamed and Stay Silent: Accountability Won't Last Long - Julfalakyan
Former MP of the 'My Step' faction Arsen Julfalakyan wrote on his Facebook page: "I am convinced that many of us have heard during various discussions (some of us have even debated) about why our ancestors did not timely understand the open genocidal policies implemented by the Turks during the years of genocide (which lasted for decades with interruptions, from the Hamidian massacres of 1894-1896 up to 1915...) and did not take the necessary steps. Is it possible that such large-scale atrocities - the genocide of an entire nation - could be hidden in such a way that the other representatives of that nation did not notice, or did not take it seriously... Sadly, we receive answers to such questions today, in our small country, just a few kilometers away from us, where in another part of our homeland a terrible war was taking place, while we had an entirely opposite understanding of the course of events.
Now, when overtly dangerous processes are taking place in the internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Armenia in Syunik, many of us are again indifferent - we are at ease... And all this happens in the 21st century, which is considered the era of technology and access to information. Where is the vast territory of the Ottoman Empire and the means of communication of that time? Therefore, from now on, when someone decides to criticize negative historical events that occurred to our ancestors centuries ago, let them first think about the events of today. Everything is so obvious to a person who understands. Unfortunately, only for those who understand...
P.S. Unique are the small and medium officials who, one after another, spread official news. Do you feel alright? Just six months ago, an entire nation believed that news and found itself in this situation. At least now be ashamed of yourselves and stay silent. Accountability won't last long..."
