Aliyev Declares That the Status of Nagorno-Karabakh Is Not Relevant
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has stated that the issue of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh is "not relevant." This was reported by the minval.az website.
"Some political figures are talking about the non-existent structure of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. I want to reiterate: if someone wants to grant a status to the Armenians living in our territory, I am not against it, but let them find a good place for them in their own country. Those places have long been occupied by the Armenian diaspora; if they want, let them give autonomy or independence there," said Aliyev in an interview with the state television channel AzTV.
According to him, "this will not happen in Azerbaijan." He added, "Therefore, I want to advise them: Do not irritate us, and there is no need to talk about any status or conflict to avoid escalating tensions in our relations. If they make such statements, they will receive a response."
