Join Us, Officers: Statement from the Union of Retired NSS Officers
The Union of Retired NSS Officers, formed by a group of former high-ranking officials, demands the resignation of the government and presents its own proposal for overcoming the crisis. This was stated by union member and former Deputy Director of the NSS, Hrant Yeghikposyan, at a press conference held today.
“We will highlight the activities of anti-national structures, support the strengthening of military security, assist the reserve forces, and monitor upcoming elections,” said Yeghikposyan.
According to him, the organization was initially created as a non-political entity, but life has made its corrections. The union had previously joined the General Staff of the Armed Forces in demanding the government's resignation. The organization is now convinced that overcoming the crisis and addressing current challenges is impossible without the resignation of the authorities.
Yeghikposyan emphasized the need to prevent radical populists from dividing the people into 'blacks and whites' and 'wolves and sheep.'
“Due to the incompetent policies of the country's leadership, a destructive blow has been dealt to the country's territorial integrity, stability, civil society, and other institutions. We see overcoming this situation as a matter of unifying efforts and mobilizing all resources without exception. We call on all officers to join us,” he said.
The union includes former NSS Director Arthur Vanetsyan, former commander of the border troops Armen Abrahamyan, former Deputy NSS Director Grigori Harutyunyan, and former temporary NSS director Mikael Hambartsumyan.
