Are the Trilateral Working Group on Transport Connectivity Issues Stalled?
For a significant amount of time, there have been reports circulating that the work of the trilateral working group on the unblocking of transport connections has hit a deadlock. The 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper has clarified through its sources that meetings are not even being held.
It should be noted that the trilateral working group was established at the suggestion of Russian President Putin to implement the agreements reached in the trilateral document signed on the night of November 9-10, with co-chairmanship by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan. The group held its first meeting on January 30 and the second on February 6. The Armenian side is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
The 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper inquired with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan why the working group is not holding meetings and whether discussions are stalled. In response to our question, the deputy prime minister briefly replied, 'We have held 5 meetings. It is not stalled; experts are working.'
Incidentally, on March 24, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, during a Q&A session in parliament with government members regarding the unblocking of communication in the region, stated, 'We had planned to come out with a report by March 1, but that was not possible because the work showed that we need additional expert work, the completion of which will allow us to discuss the framework of possible decisions.'
