In Case of Victory of Any Anti-Nikol Force, I Will Consider My Mission Completed
The target of his barking was my family and children, and in the sense that I was in one way or another connected to politics, my hands were tied. All those conversations bring a forgiving smile to my face, and here’s why—everyone paid and is paying Nikol. This was stated by former Armenian Ambassador to the Vatican Mikael Minasian in a Telegram post, responding to film producer Armen Grigoryan's message.
“Dear Mikhalich, first, thank you for the kind words, as it is a rare occurrence in our times, and because of that, they are valuable doubly. Second, I don’t understand how throwing a bone at the loudly barking mutt (notably, I am the only one who has publicly admitted this) can be perceived as nourishment, advancement, or any other support from Nikol. The target of his barking was my family and children, and in the sense that I was in one way or another connected to politics, my hands were tied. All those conversations bring a forgiving smile to my face, and here’s why—everyone paid and is paying Nikol.
In 2018, the businessmen and parties that switched to his side were bringing money to the editorial office, while now they are supplying his various foundations. I stopped paying him after the revolution, while the rest have not stopped. And some even started.
Third, I have undoubtedly gone, am going, and will go through the path of atonement. Atoning for the mistakes I and others have made. Mistakes that I was not even aware of, mistakes that exist in public imagination. Well, fine, all this is not important. But here is what I want to declare—directly and responsibly:
- I have no arrangement with any of the participants in the electoral processes.
- If by some miracle any anti-Nikol force wins these elections, I will consider my mission completed and will leave Armenian politics and the Armenian public stage. The 'Dukhov'-cap-wearing people, who danced for the revolution, instead of hitting their own nape, started blaming me, Serzh Sargsyan, Opus Dei, or, as usual, the usual scapegoat—Pushkin.
- It is important for me to prove their injustice with my actions.
Lastly, I have one obligation that I have publicly stated: I will help all those who consider Nikol an enemy, regardless of my attitude towards them or their attitude towards me. Armen, we carry the same values, we are heirs of reputable families, we are neighbors, after all. Each of us has his own path—the path of actions, Atonement, and responsibility. That is what distinguishes us from those blind ones who have destroyed the country,” Minasian wrote.
