Let's Not Trade, We Must Return the Prisoners Home: PACE Member
During the European Council Parliamentary Assembly, the issue of returning Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan was discussed. MP Stefan Shenek emphasized in his speech that he is speaking today not as a co-rapporteur on the Azerbaijan issue but as a member of the PACE.
"We must use this forum for conflict resolution and to achieve peace. There are still people missing in Azerbaijan, and there are many servicemen who remain imprisoned in Azerbaijan. This must be stated clearly and with all seriousness," he said.
Shenek added that many civilians have lost their lives during the war, and it is important to treat the opponent with respect and move towards peace. "I urge, I call upon Azerbaijan—not to trade over whether servicemen were captured before or after the war. They must be returned home," the MP stated.
