Press Conference Hits Hard: Arayik Harutyunyan Dismisses Deputy Minister
Today, following a discussion held by Boris Avakyan, the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of Artsakh, regarding the issue of captives in the Armenian Parliament, the authorities of Artsakh have decided to dismiss him from his position. The reason is likely Avakyan's controversial statements indicating that the Armenian authorities are not appropriately addressing the problem of the return of prisoners.
According to hraparak.am, after the discussion ended, the Artsakh authorities released a statement clarifying that Avakyan does not represent an official viewpoint and does not hold any office.
Moreover, shortly after the discussion, while he was still in the Parliament building, Avakyan received a call from the Speaker of the Artsakh Parliament, Arthur Tovmasyan, informing him that Arayik Harutyunyan wanted to dismiss him from his job. This information was confirmed to us by Vardan Atabekyan, a former member of the 'My Step' faction, who had invited Avakyan to the parliament and was present during Tovmasyan's call.
