Several Officials Questioned at the Special Investigative Service; Notification Sent to Nikol Pashinyan
According to "Oratert" sources, several officials, including former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan and the current Chief of General Staff Artak Davtyan, have been questioned within the framework of an investigation by the Special Investigative Service. A notification has also been sent to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
However, we could not ascertain whether Pashinyan has already been questioned, as the invitation was sent recently and the Prime Minister is currently in self-isolation ahead of a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, not communicating with anyone.
On the other hand, Artak Davtyan was questioned at a time when he had not yet officially assumed his position as Chief of General Staff.
It should be recalled that a criminal case has been initiated at the Special Investigative Service under Part 2 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code, which deals with the abuse of official powers. This follows a series of high-profile statements made by Moises Hakobyan regarding the reasons for the Armenian side's defeat in the war, alleging that there was improper mobilization, the wrong military equipment was purchased, and there was a reduction in tactical units while the so-called "paper-signing" or operational section increased.
Additionally, Hakobyan claimed that instead of reinforcing the army at the order of the Prime Minister, volunteers were sent to the front lines. Thus, the invitation for officials to be questioned aims to uncover revelations regarding these issues.
