Sofya Hovsepyan to Prime Minister: 'A couple of people clapping in those villages means public opinion?'

Independent MP Sofya Hovsepyan wrote on her Facebook page: “There was a time when we criticized everyone for selling state structures. The brandy factories were sold, hospitals were privatized, the concert hall is no longer state property, schools and kindergartens are being closed and sold, parks have owners... Then came a time when we started talking about 'public interest,' and 'confiscation of illegal property'... These didn't help either, since how much illegal property was left in place, the public interest was forgotten and went away... Today we are selling university buildings... Seriously...

In those villages you mentioned, where a couple of people clapped, does that mean it represents 'public opinion' and a path to lawlessness? For those villagers, it doesn’t really matter what you sell because after losing their homeland, they are still happily clapping and competing during rallies to see whose village's banner is held higher. They don’t care that the neighbor's son has no resting place for 'a handful.' Let me remind you, there are many people who haven’t deviated from their initial paths and will not let you touch any property, especially not for selling it under your peaceful motives...

What if a 'devoted' Turk buys Yerevan State University tomorrow or the next day, another one buys the Matenadaran, and the next one buys the Genocide Museum? Long live those clueless ones who don’t understand what is being said... Pieces of a new era...
