My Step MP Edits Nikol Pashinyan's Speech: 'Hayrapet' Newspaper
The ruling party MP Karen Sarukhanyan was asked about Pashinyan's statement in Aragatsotn, where he said, 'Our boys died so that when Aliyev says the issue of Artsakh is resolved, we can say, it is not resolved.' The MP decided to edit his 'boss's' words, stating that he meant to convey that our boys died for the homeland.
Then why mention Aliyev's name? 'Because they have always said that Artsakh should belong to them entirely, but today we have a certain situation where part of it is Armenian, and Armenians live there... that is the meaning. More precisely, the point was that the enemies have not achieved their goal.'
So, did you sacrifice so many boys just to have a 'trump card' with Aliyev? 'We did not sacrifice; the boys died for their homeland, to protect it, and today we have a homeland.'
But why didn’t Pashinyan say it that way? 'That is exactly what he said. I said, didn’t I? Aliyev sent a message that Artsakh would belong to them, now we can say that it is not the case because we have Artsakh.'
Couldn’t this have been made clear to Aliyev not at the cost of the boys' lives, but through negotiations? 'What was possible has been done.' This was reported by the 'Hayrapet' newspaper.
