Azerbaijani Presidential Assistant Justifies Destruction of Mehakavan Armenian Church
Azerbaijani Presidential Assistant Hikmet Hajiyev has justified the destruction of the Mehakavan Armenian Church of St. Mary. According to the Baghramyan 26 Telegram channel, Hajiyev stated that 'the church was new.' If it was recently built, then it could be demolished.
'This speaks volumes about Azerbaijan's intention to organize cultural genocide in the occupied territories of Artsakh. The same has been done to churches and khachkars in Nakhichevan,' the Telegram channel reports.
It is noteworthy that Azerbaijani authorities have completely demolished the Mehakavan Armenian Church of St. Mary following the occupation of the Hadrut region of Nagorno-Karabakh due to the war in 2020.
