Russian Military Police Escort 16 Armenian Pilgrims from Stepanakert to Dadivank
The official representative of the Russian peacekeeping forces held a press briefing, during which he presented the situation in the conflict zone. The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to carry out tasks related to monitoring agreements on the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. No ceasefire violations have been recorded. The Russian peacekeepers are ensuring the safe return of refugees to Nagorno-Karabakh. As of today, a total of 52,058 people have returned,
said the deputy head of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, Perepelkin. He noted that since January 29, the safe passage of nine military convoys of the Azerbaijani armed forces through the peacekeepers' responsibility zone has been ensured. On January 30, at the request of the Azerbaijani side, a special medical unit of the Russian peacekeeping contingent evacuated 16 wounded Azerbaijani soldiers from the village of Vank to Magavuz, where they were handed over to Azerbaijani doctors.
On January 31, the Russian military police escorted 16 Armenian pilgrims from Stepanakert to Dadivank and back.
The representative of the Russian peacekeepers also discussed demining efforts in Nagorno-Karabakh: "Russian engineering and demining groups are clearing areas of unexploded munitions. So far, 973 buildings have been inspected, more than 247 km of roads have been cleared, and approximately 893 hectares of land have been cleaned. A total of 23,950 explosive hazards have been identified and neutralized."
He also noted that groups from the humanitarian response center, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and involving representatives from both Azerbaijani and Armenian sides, continue to search for the bodies of fallen soldiers in the regions of Hadrut, Jebrayil, and Fizuli.
