We Were Able to Transform Turkish-Greek Disputes into a Turkey-EU Argument, Says Greek Prime Minister
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, commenting on the disagreements with Turkey regarding the Eastern Mediterranean, stated, "We were able to transform Turkish-Greek disputes into a Turkey-EU argument. The EU summit held in October provided Turkey with an opportunity, but Turkey did not accept that positive agenda." This was reported by ermenihaber.am.
In response to a question about whether the EU would apply sanctions against Turkey if it does not adopt such measures, the Greek leader noted that the majority of Europeans stand by Athens and that they have many allies. Mitsotakis emphasized that Turkey's continued tension is detrimental to its own interests, adding that Turkey needs to reconsider its relations with the EU.
He deemed it necessary for Turkey to take steps aimed at de-escalating the tension.
