Movement in the Exchange of Prisoners and Remains, Search for the Missing: Sergey Lavrov
The negotiations between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ara Ayvazyan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were warm, allied, and cooperative, reflecting the relations between Moscow and Yerevan. This was stated by Lavrov during a meeting with media representatives.
“On November 21, at the instruction of Russian President Putin, a Russian inter-agency delegation was in Yerevan and then in Baku. We discussed the situation that arose after the signing of the joint statement by the leaders of the countries on November 9 with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and our other partners. We also addressed the issues that have arisen for all of us regarding the complete resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as well as bilateral relations between Armenia and Russia. We have a unified position that the November 9 statement creates all the necessary foundations based on justice, taking into account the interests of both the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples.
We are satisfied that the ceasefire has been maintained for a month now. Refugees are returning, and there is movement in the exchange of prisoners and remains, as well as in the search for the missing. We are interested in resolving these urgent humanitarian issues as soon as possible, and we have already outlined several steps in this direction,” Lavrov noted.
