France's Izère Department Allocates €50,000 to Assist Artsakh Refugees in Gegharkunik
The Izère Department of the French Republic has allocated €50,000 in grants to provide urgent assistance to Artsakh refugees residing in the Gegharkunik province. According to information provided to Armenpress by the Development Programs, Tourism and Analysis Division of the Gegharkunik Provincial Administration, the president of the Izère Departmental Council, Jean-Pierre Barbier, sent a special letter to the Governor of Gegharkunik informing him of this initiative. The letter also confirmed that the implementation of programs established in 2019 between the Gegharkunik Provincial Administration and the Izère Departmental Council related to education, healthcare, and tourism will continue.
In a response letter, Gegharkunik Governor Gnel Sanosyan expressed gratitude and readiness to continue cooperation with the Izère Department. “Dear Mr. Jean-Pierre Barbier, I gladly and sincerely accept the support you and the Deputy Chairman of the Izère Departmental Council for Cultural Heritage and Decentralized Cooperation, Patrick Kurt, have provided, expressed both through encouraging words and financial assistance. The wounds inflicted by the war are extremely severe, yet pathways to swiftly overcome them emerge when goodwill and humanitarian approaches manifest. It is rightly said that true friendship is best demonstrated in times of adversity. I am confident that our years of cooperation will not only have a reliable continuation but will also contribute to addressing the vital issues faced by families displaced from Artsakh due to the catastrophic war in our region,” the governor wrote in his response letter.
He further emphasized, “In these difficult days for our homeland and people, the support provided by the Izère Department only reassures us and motivates us towards creative work. On behalf of the inhabitants of Gegharkunik, the Artsakh refugees in the region, and myself, I express gratitude for this humanitarian initiative, assuring that the allocated grant assistance will be targeted and effectively serve its purpose.”
