Turkey Sends Over 2000 Syrian Mercenaries to Azerbaijan, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) activists have confirmed that the Turkish government has transported a new group of mercenaries from Syria to Azerbaijan.

According to the center's website, the recently formed group consists of 400 militants from the "Sultan Murad" faction, the "Al-Hamzat" division, and other terrorist groups that were initially supposed to be sent to Azerbaijan. However, Turkey's transportation of Syrian mercenaries has been delayed due to the ceasefire agreement concerning Nagorno-Karabakh, SOHR reports.

It is noted that the number of Syrian mercenaries fighting alongside Azerbaijani forces has reached 2050. According to the center’s sources, the mercenaries are being sent to the front lines, bearing the full brunt of the war.

The center reports that Turkey continues to recruit Syrian mercenaries. Some of the fighters, who found themselves in combat, have regretted their decision, rejected their compensation, and returned to Syria. It is reported that 143 mercenaries have died, 92 of whose bodies have been sent back to Syria, while others remain in Azerbaijan.
