Artsakh Investigates Deaths of Armenian Prisoners by Azerbaijani Armed Forces
The Artsakh Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case based on a complaint filed by the Chief Prosecutor of Artsakh regarding the events of September 27, 2020, at approximately 7:15 AM. It concerns the coordinated attack conducted by the military-political leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which involved the use of mortars, missiles, aviation, and drones across the entire line of contact in violation of several international agreements.
This aggressive war, accompanied by serious violations of norms of international humanitarian law, aims to unleash an act of aggression. This information was reported by the Artsakh Investigative Committee.
In particular, according to factual data obtained from relevant measures taken in connection with a video that circulated online on October 15, 2020, a diversionary group of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan infiltrated the city of Hadrut. Allowing significant violations of international humanitarian law, they opened fire on Artur Mkrtchyan Street, resulting in the deaths of two civilians born in 1947 and 1995, who were wrapped in a flag of the Republic of Armenia, defenseless, and effectively taken prisoner.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing under paragraph 1 of part 1 of Article 416 of the Artsakh Criminal Code.
