Steps Must Be Taken Now to Halt Military Operations: Mayilyan
“Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, particularly in the security sphere, must be solidified and given a new quality,” said Masis Mayilyan, head of the Artsakh foreign ministry, during a press briefing. However, he emphasized that the international recognition of Artsakh is even more critical as a political and diplomatic tool that can deter Azerbaijan.
The minister noted that steps must currently be taken to stop military operations. “Such steps are being taken. Our Defense Army is effectively working to deter Azerbaijan. Following that, we should be able to bring Azerbaijan into a constructive sphere with the assistance of international organizations and begin discussions. Those discussions had occurred prior to the Tavush incidents, and Azerbaijan's aggression has dealt a significant blow to the peace process. This current situation also represents a setback. Azerbaijan is harming the peace process with such actions,” he said.
