Significant Poaching Detected Near Varteres Village
On September 20 of this year, the Animal Conservation Division of the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body, along with staff from the territorial divisions of Gegharkunik and Kotayk, conducted a strict inspection aimed at preventing illegal hunting. During this joint operation, a case of poaching was recorded in the hunting area adjacent to Varteres village in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia.
Residents H. A. and S. K. from Aygepat village in the Ararat region were found to have hunted 48 birds of the lark species, exceeding the permitted quota. The hunting weapons and material evidence have been confiscated.
A formal administrative case has been initiated in the Gegharkunik territorial division of the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body, and the violators will face legal consequences. Inspections are ongoing.
