Court Rules Arrest of Three Amulsar Defenders Unlawful; They Are Released
The Court of General Jurisdiction of Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts deemed the arrest of three defenders of Amulsar unlawful, leading to their release. This information was reported by MP Ani Samsonyan on her Facebook page.
Earlier, activist Mikael Margaryan pointed out in front of the court that the lawyer stated the citizens' arrest was unfounded. According to him, there is a very negative sentiment toward the residents of Jermuk, Gndevaz, and citizens defending Amulsar.
It is noteworthy that on September 15, a scuffle occurred in the Gndevaz community between residents supporting the exploitation of the Amulsar mine and protesters blocking the road. Specifically, the protesters have called the Gndevaz residents involved in the resumed works in Amulsar to a 'brawl', and reports indicate the protesters were armed with sticks.
The incident led to violence, and among the Amulsar employees, there are individuals who suffered bodily injuries. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, characterized by hooliganism.
