The Third Republic of Armenia is 29 Years Old
Today, the Armenian community celebrates the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia. The Declaration of Independence was adopted on August 23, 1990, during a session of the Supreme Council.
On September 21, 1991, a referendum was held in Armenia regarding the withdrawal from the USSR, in which 94.39% of the 2,056,758 eligible voters said 'yes' to independence. On September 23, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Armenia, summarizing the results of the referendum, declared the Republic of Armenia an independent state.
