Russian Ambassador Outlines Conditions for Border Opening in Armenia
Discussions regarding the opening of borders are taking place at both bilateral and Eurasian Economic Union levels, but ultimately, the decisive factor will be the evolution of the epidemiological situation. This was stated by Sergei Kopirkin, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Armenia, during a conversation with journalists on September 18.
“If we are to talk about the travels of foreign citizens, including Armenian citizens, measures have been taken by the Russian side to ensure that when it is really necessary (in humanitarian cases, for situations of acute needs), citizens have the opportunity to travel to Russia. Citizens are availing themselves of this opportunity, and as for the opening of borders, the epidemiological services of our countries play a decisive role,” the ambassador noted.
It is worth recalling that citizens wishing to travel to Russia have been staging protests in Yerevan for months, demanding the opening of the borders.
