Elman Pashayev, Who Failed Mikhail Efremov's Defense, Stripped of Lawyer Status
Elman Pashayev, the former lawyer of Mikhail Efremov, has been stripped of his lawyer status for one year, according to the "Moscow" agency. This information was confirmed in a conversation with TASS by the Federal Chamber of Lawyers.
According to the press service, "Pashayev has been deprived of lawyer status by the decision of the Bar Chamber." Earlier, the Bar's qualification board had identified disciplinary violations in his actions.
Mikhail Efremov has been sentenced to eight years in prison in connection with an accident that resulted in the death of truck driver Sergey Zakharov. The court confirmed that on the evening of June 8, Efremov veered into the oncoming lane in central Moscow and collided with the vehicle driven by Zakharov. The latter died from his injuries the following day in the hospital.
Efremov's new lawyer, Vladimir Vasiliev, has requested a substitute of the eight-year prison sentence with four years of suspended imprisonment.
