Tragic Car Accident in Gegharkunik Region: 32-Year-Old Armenian Soldier Found Dead in Lake Sevan After Mercedes Crash

On September 16, a tragic car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 09:00, the police received a report regarding a vehicle in Lake Sevan, near the 53rd kilometer of the Tsovagyugh-Shorja-Vardenis highway. The police discovered that on the night of September 15 to 16, 32-year-old Nune Avetisyan, a resident of Syunik Province, lost control of his Mercedes vehicle under unclear circumstances, veering off the road into Lake Sevan, resulting in his death on the spot.

The police also established on-site that he was a soldier of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, prompting the information to be relayed to the military police of the Ministry of Defense. Emergency Situations Ministry’s rescue service in the Gegharkunik region arrived at the scene with a firefighting unit, and with the assistance of citizens, they retrieved the vehicle from Lake Sevan.
