Protests Erupt Again in the US Following Another Killing of an African American by Police

Protests have once again erupted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, after a police officer killed an African American citizen, reports the Associated Press. The incident involved a 27-year-old named Ricardo Munoz, who was shot dead after he allegedly chased an officer with a knife shortly after leaving his home.

A video captured by the officer's body camera reveals how the officer fled from the young man before firing several shots in his direction. Following the incident, the police officer has been placed on administrative leave, and the regional prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the event.

This morning, several hundred people gathered outside the Lancaster Police Department. According to police, the demonstrators began throwing bricks, bottles filled with water, and rocks at law enforcement officials. "The group of protesters did not comply with orders, and chemical agents were deployed to disperse the crowd," police stated, adding that tear gas was also used.

It is worth recalling that mass protests began across the United States following the police killing of African American George Floyd. On May 25, a video surfaced showing an officer pressing his knee on Floyd's neck while ignoring his pleas for help.
