OSCE Co-Chairs Propose Meeting Between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan
On September 14, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stefan Visconti (France), and Andrew Schofer (USA) held intensive consultations in Paris. According to Armenpress, this information was conveyed in the statement of the OSCE Minsk Group.
It was noted that the personal representative of the OSCE chairperson-in-office, Andzey Kasprzyk, was present at the meeting. The Co-Chairs reviewed the regional situation, paying special attention to the events following the escalation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border in July.
The Co-Chairs carefully examined and assessed the private and public messages and concerns from both sides. They were informed by the personal representative of the OSCE chairperson-in-office about the local security situation and welcomed the preparations related to the resumption of the monitoring process.
The Co-Chairs had a phone conversation with Armenia's Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, inviting the ministers to meet personally with the Co-Chairs in the coming weeks to clarify respective positions and to resume serious substantive negotiations without preconditions.
