Environmental Damage Exceeds 12 Million Drams
The damage to the environment amounts to more than 12 million drams, according to the findings from the inspection and regulatory body of the Republic of Armenia. This information was reported by the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body (EMIB).
During inspections, site visits, and administrative proceedings conducted from August 31 to September 4, 2020, a total of 17 cases were recorded that led to the calculation of damage amounting to 12,449,472 drams.
Previously recorded cases accounted for an additional 24 incidents, which resulted in 1,032,390 drams of environmental damage, with administrative fines totaling 2,672,000 drams.
Vegetation Protection Sector
In 17 documented cases, the calculated environmental damage was 12,449,472 drams. In 11 previously recorded cases, the damage totaled 53,600 drams, with an administrative fine of 1,290,000 drams imposed.
Animal Protection Sector
In 5 previously recorded cases, environmental damage was calculated at 640,000 drams, leading to an administrative fine of 292,000 drams.
Protection of Atmospheric Air and Water, Waste Management, and Land Use and Conservation Sector
In 2 earlier cases, the environmental damage amounted to 59,400 drams, resulting in an administrative fine of 130,000 drams. Additionally, 4 inspections conducted in the past resulted in 279,390 drams of environmental damage, with an administrative fine of 680,000 drams.
State Examinations
In one previous inspection, an administrative fine of 230,000 drams was assigned. In the field of mineral resource protection, an administrative fine of 50,000 drams was also issued in a previously recorded case.
Seven cases, totaling 643,500 drams in administrative fines, have been forwarded to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. During the stated period, 1,844,440 drams were deposited into the state budget.
