No Interpol warrant issued for Armenian Armed Forces officers Vazgen Vardanyan and Armen Jamalyan, says Armenian Police
Information spread on social media that criminal proceedings had been initiated against Armenian Armed Forces officers Vazgen Vardanyan and Armen Jamalyan by the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan. It was reported that a corresponding application had been submitted to the Interpol General Secretariat by the Interpol bureau of that country to declare an international warrant for their arrest through Interpol.
The police have stated that as of September 11, 2020, no such warrant has been issued against Vazgen Vardanyan and Armen Jamalyan through Interpol. The Interpol bureau in Armenia continuously monitors such initiatives by the Azerbaijani authorities to respond promptly and appropriately. In this regard, if such issues arise, the Interpol in Armenia provides an immediate and adequate response and presents justifications and arguments to the Interpol General Secretariat.
