HHD YEM Refutes Claims That Marks on Tombstones in Yerablur Are Result of Their Candle Lighting
The Armenian Youth Federation (HHD YEM) has refuted the information circulated by the police suggesting that the wax marks found on the tombstones in Yerablur were caused by the candle lighting organized by HHD YEM the previous day.
Below is the statement from HHD YEM:
“On September 5, news appeared online that the tombstones of April War participants Robert Abajyan and Armenak Urfanian had been desecrated. Users called the attention of the RA Police to this issue.
The police, without conducting a proper investigation, hastily issued a statement claiming that the marks on the tombstones were the result of the candle lighting we organized the day before. However, it is evident from the photographs that during our candle lighting, the candles were placed in entirely different locations, and the marks appeared on the faces of the heroes.
We also recall that a similar incident occurred last year, after which we expressed our willingness to establish supervision at Yerablur if necessary.”
