I Am a Founder of BHK and Will Not Withdraw Under Any Circumstances: Mikayel Melkumyan

I am a founder of the BHK and will not withdraw under any circumstances. This was stated by BHK faction MP Mikayel Melkumyan during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly today, September 4.

“I am not only an executor of politics, but also a creator of political agendas. Why should I withdraw?” he said.

In response to the statement made by the leader of the “My Step” faction, Lilit Makunts, claiming that the BHK, preparing for rallies, is under the influence of other political forces, Melkumyan replied, “Why should I comment on someone else's statements? That’s their opinion; we also say a lot of things. Secondly, the BHK has not organized rallies for the first time; it has always done so. It develops its own agenda and is an independent force. Different forces may come and go, but the BHK will always remain. Of course, it is unacceptable for me that the BHK should be guided from somewhere. The BHK is the second political power and independently develops its own politics.”

To the question of whether Levon Ter-Petrosyan convinced Tsarukyan to demand the resignation of the authorities in 2015, Melkumyan said, “Convincing is not a political category. If you want to go back to 2015, the situation was different back then. If you remember, the struggle began earlier, leading to Tigran Sargsyan's resignation, and it continued.”
