At Present, 1127 Individuals Hold Valid Diplomatic Passports of Armenia - Anna Naghdalyan
Since May 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, guided by Article 49 of the law on "Diplomatic Service," has issued 783 diplomatic passports. This number also includes new passports issued to Armenian diplomats due to the expiration of their diplomatic passports during the specified period. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Anna Naghdalyan.
She noted that out of these individuals, 764 were issued diplomatic passports in accordance with the requirements of part 1 of Article 49 of the law on "Diplomatic Service" (persons involved in diplomatic service in Armenia and foreign countries, family members residing permanently with them in a foreign state, officials, and other individuals defined by law).
Naghdalyan added that under part 2 of Article 49 of the law on "Diplomatic Service," only 19 diplomatic passports have been issued since May 2018 with the permission of the Prime Minister (which are not individually specified in the law, but are nevertheless due to activities related to public service). Interestingly, this number represents a more than 90% decrease compared to the number of passports issued under the same provision prior to May 2018.
Currently, 1127 individuals hold valid diplomatic passports of Armenia. Since May 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared 425 diplomatic passports invalid, guided by Article 50.
