Not Changes, But Actually a New Constitution - "Pasti"
“Pasti” newspaper writes: “As is known, the authorities have initiated constitutional reforms and created a corresponding commission for that purpose. Despite the differing opinions regarding this initiative, including claims that this is just another theatrical performance or that holding a constitutional referendum in two years is highly unlikely, nevertheless, the commission for constitutional reforms has recently shown significant activity and regularly reminds of its existence.
In particular, information about proposed changes is being published. The latest relates to the provisions for the establishment of a Supreme Court. According to “Pasti” newspaper, we are dealing with a completely different reality in terms of substance. According to our sources, the commission is not preparing a project of constitutional amendments, but is essentially drafting a new Constitution.
The matter is that they plan to change several key provisions of the Constitution almost entirely, which is difficult to qualify merely as amendments. According to reports, the governmental system will not change, but deep and substantive changes will be proposed in other key areas that correspond to the political chemistry of the current authorities. Incidentally, our sources indicate that the opposition members of the commission have significant disagreements regarding several amendments.”
