Ararat Region Resident Aged 45 Arrested for Murder and Attempted Murder
The preliminary investigation into the criminal case initiated against a 45-year-old man for murder and attempted murder has been completed at the Ararat regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Previously, it was reported that on May 10, 2020, at around 02:40, the 45-year-old man entered a house on Charentsi Street in the city of Ararat and, with the intent to unlawfully deprive a life, fired a shot at a 29-year-old resident of the same house using a 16mm caliber hunting rifle, after which he fled the scene. The victim died at the scene due to the bodily injuries sustained.
On the same day, between 05:00 and 05:30, the 45-year-old man arrived near one of the plots of land in the administrative area of Geghakert village in Ararat region, where he decided to pick and eat strawberries from a nearby patch. However, upon encountering the landowner, he got into an argument with him, during which the 45-year-old man used a knife he had in his possession to inflict injuries on the vital organs of the landowner with the intention to unlawfully deprive him of life. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, he failed to complete the act and fled the scene.
Based on the combination of sufficient evidence, the 45-year-old man has been charged under Article 104 (murder) part 1 and Article 34-104 (attempted murder) part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. A measure of restraint has been chosen for him in the form of arrest.
The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
Notice: The suspect or defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure of Armenia and by a legally enacted court decision.
