Jrakan. NSS Reveals New Findings Regarding Activities of Defense Ministry Officials
According to the "Jrakan" newspaper, the National Security Service has made new findings regarding the activities of officials in the Ministry of Defense. In particular, it has been revealed that a legal entity participated in open tenders announced for the repair of external water lines and air conditioning systems of the Ministry of Defense buildings between May and June 2019, and was recognized as the winner.
As a result, on July 13 and 31, 2019, the company signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense amounting to 150 million drams, undertaking to carry out repair works in military units. However, without fulfilling its contractual obligations, the company allegedly collaborated with competent officials of the Ministry of Defense to include false information in the documents that did not correspond to reality and inflated the costs of the work carried out, defrauding the state of an especially large amount of money.
It became known to the "Jrakan" newspaper that a criminal case has been initiated at the NSS Investigative Department under Article 178, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for fraud, Article 325, Part 1 for falsification of documents, stamps, seals, forms, and vehicle registration numbers, Article 314, Part 1 for official forgery, and Article 375, Part 3 for abuse of power, exceeding authority, or inaction of authority.
