Grandfather Arrested for Brutally Beating Grandchildren in Critical Condition

A 57-year-old man arrested for brutally beating his grandchildren in the community of Khashtarak, Tavush Province, is currently hospitalized. It has been revealed that he also ingested lead and is in a critical condition.

According to Armtimes.com, days ago, seven children from the mentioned family were taken to the hospital after being poisoned with lead and showing signs of brutal assault on their bodies. One of the six-year-old boys passed away without regaining consciousness.

The grandfather, alleged to have beaten the grandchildren, was transferred from prison to Armenia Medical Center, where testing confirmed the presence of lead in his bloodstream.

In a conversation with “Haykakan Zhamanak,” Dr. Gabrielyan from the toxicology center stated that the patient's condition is critical and life-threatening. When asked how he explains his actions regarding the lead ingestion, the doctor mentioned that while the patient has not lost consciousness, he does not respond to their questions.

When queried if the ingestion of lead could have been accidental, Dr. Gabrielyan responded, “It is the same family, they ingested lead at the same time, could that have been a coincidence… I cannot say, we simply cannot answer such questions.”

It is also reported that the children's mother is accused of regularly beating them, but her request for detention was denied, based on her being pregnant, according to information from “Azatutyun” radio station.

The decision has been made for the children to live at the “Children's House” organization for the time being, and they will not return home.
