Criminal Case Initiated Following Poisoning Incident Involving 5 Residents of Armavir
The Armavir Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation to clarify all circumstances surrounding a poisoning incident involving five residents of Armavir.
On August 31, 2020, a report was received from the Armavir Medical Center about patients being transported in critical condition to the hospital due to "alcohol poisoning." The affected individuals were residents of Lermontov, Shiraz, and Baghramyan Streets in Armavir.
It was found that they had ingested an unidentified alcoholic beverage that did not meet safety requirements for consumer health and safety, resulting in their poisoning. Of the five individuals who sought medical attention, two succumbed to their condition in the hospital without regaining consciousness.
In connection with the incident, the Armavir Regional Investigation Department has initiated a criminal case under the third part of Article 279 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which pertains to the release or sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements. During the preliminary investigation, various investigative actions have been carried out, including inspections at the crime scene, and containers filled with a liquid resembling alcohol have been discovered and confiscated. According to the statements of the participants, the poisoned individuals consumed the liquid in question.
Investigative and procedural actions are underway to clarify all circumstances of the case and to ensure an objective, complete, and comprehensive investigation.
