21-Year-Old Man Charged with Sexual Assault of 6-Year-Old Child

On August 21, 2020, a resident of Ararat province reported that their 21-year-old neighbor had committed sexual assault against their 6-year-old son during the summer of 2019 and in August 2020. This information was disclosed by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Ararat branch of the RA Police based on Article 139, Part 3, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code (sexual assault) and the investigation is being conducted by the Ararat regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee.

The investigation revealed that the 21-year-old resident of Ararat province committed sexual assaults against the 6-year-old child near a haystack adjacent to their home in the summer of 2019 and in the basement of their house in August 2020.

Based on sufficient evidence, the young man has been charged under Part 3, Clause 2 of Article 139 of the RA Criminal Code (two episodes) and has been detained. The investigation is ongoing.
